Kenya fuel prices to remain constant For the first time since March 2022, fuel prices have remained constant thus providing customers with relief from a further increase in the cost of living. The government raised the price of fuel by Ksh5 per litre in March thus, super selling at sh134.72, diesel at sh115.60 and kerosine at sh103.54.

In April the director general of EPRA stated that fuel prices had gone high by sh9.90. In May there was also an increase of sh5.50 per litre in fuel prices. In June prices increased by sh9 thus, super costing sh159.12, diesel sh150.12 and kerosine sh118.94. since march fuel price has increased by sh30 per litre on average.

New fuel prices in Kenya today

Following the State’s release of Sh16.7 billion from the fuel stabilization fund to reimburse oil marketers, a litre of super will now cost sh159.12, diesel would sell at sh140per litre while Kerosene Sh127.94 per litre.

The decision to maintain rates has provided Kenyans with relief at a time when inflation has increased so high. Most Kenyans were worried about fuel prices since the increase in fuel prices would lead to a further increase in the prices of basic products.

Are fuel prices going up in Kenya?

According to State House spokesperson Kanze Dena, the President has approved an additional gasoline subsidy of Sh16.675 billion today to protect Kenyans from further increases in fuel costs. from the statement released, it was stated that if the government would not provide the funds, fuel prices would increase diesel selling at sh193.64, petrol at sh209.95 and kerosine at sh181.13.

President Kenyatta also promised Kenyans that the government will continue to implement similar measures to provide additional immediate relief to all families and develop the appropriate measures for protecting Kenyan consumers from further increases in the cost of living.

Although the fund used to subsidize fuel prices has been depleted, the state was alerted about the rising costs of products last year.
State House announced today that the government had implemented a fuel stabilization program over the previous year in response to these difficulties. This initiative has provided Kenyans with relief at the pump with a subsidy of Sh101.852 billion to date.

Given that diesel is an important factor in determining the number of goods and services used to estimate inflation, an increase in fuel prices would have put more pressure on taxpayers and motorists.
